| Abstract | Critical Section I: Pandoramonium: Reading Outside the Box, Dialogues in Postmodern Historiography; The purpose of this research is to demonstrate the ways in which popular culture artifacts in contemporary American society have the demonstrated ability to prefigure globally significant historical trends by reinforcing extant values, belief systems and social institutions. Drawing on a variety of canonical postmodern texts, novels and theories, I have endeavored to exemplify the historiograhpic role such cultural artifacts retain in the era of Postmodernity. Ultimately, it is my conclusion, as supported by research, that the entirety of American popular culture is an ideological machine aimed at establishing a homogeneous global society rooted in Judeo-Christian values.; Creative Section II: The Dead of Night; This is a work of fiction. |
