| Abstract | The first paper published on the Times Point Foraminifera was by Dr. Rufus Bagg in 1912. The material for the present thesis was collected from the south-east part of San Pedro, California, along the bluff facing the harbor, from the same locality from which Dr. Bagg obtained his material. The writer has identifed one hundred and thirty-seven different species and varieties, in addition to one new species, and seven species which seem to be new, but of which thereis not a large enough series to be sure, In a comparison with the Timms Point Foraminiferal genera listed by Rankin and Laiming, it was found that they had listed seven genera not found by the writer, and that the writer had listed twenty genera not found by Rankin and Laiming, The Australian Kalimnan (Lower Pliocene) Foraminifera were found to be quite different from the Timms Point Forminifera. The writer believes that the Timms Point Foraminifera indicate a coldepoch in the Pleistocene of Southern California. Each species and variety of the Foraminifera has been mounted in an individual slide and filed with the Geology Department of the University of Southern California. |
