| Abstract | The history of the United States has been fraught with social injustices, whether intentional or ingrained into societal ways of life that have negatively impacted the education of high poverty students of color. Despite a historical trend of educational inequality there have been multiple examples of schools that have been able to break the mold of underachievement for students of color. This paper addresses the systems and structures in place at these high performing urban schools, with large concentrations high poverty students of color. It is through the exploration of the effective systems and structures that it is hoped other schools can use the data to reproduce similar results for their student body. |
