language of document, and languages for future translation, indicated in the left-hand column
with "E" for English and "K" for Korean.
To find a document of interest, first use the Table of Contents to locate a desired Volume by its
title and years. Proceed to the Index to locate the desired document.
For convenience, the Volume number is repeated on each page below the page number.
Following are examples in a search for a document.
Example 1: Find documents on Syngman Rhee.
1. Search Table of Contents: There is no mention of Rhee.
2. Search Table of Contents for likely years of Rhee's involvement with the Korean
Provisional Government, 1919-1923.
3. Find Volumes III, IV, VI with years 1920-1921.
4. Search the Index:
Volumes III and V have no mention of Rhee.
Volume IV mentions Rhee, pages 38-43.
