The Hyun Family Documents
A Listing
Although the subject of this Volume is the Index of the Reverend Soon Hyun Collected
documents (RSHCD) and selected essays, the reader is advised there is historical information
provided by other Hyun family sources.
This listing, to enable the reader to make a rapid survey of all the Hyun family documents,
including the RSHCD, is as follows:
(1) The Reverend Soon Hyun Collected Documents,
Eun Sik Yang. 1992. Revised 1997. David Hyun
The Reverend Soon Hyun Collected Documents (RSHCD) cover the history of the Hyun family,
the early Christian Movement in Korea and Hawaii, Korea's March First Independence
Movement, and post-World War II liberation struggles until Rev. Hyun's death.
The documents have been organized by categories of information and chronology and bound into
twenty hardcover volumes printed on acid-free paper. The volumes consist of nineteen of
documents and one for the Overview, Index, and Essays.
(2) Oral Family Histories, bv Eun Sik Yang. 1996
To supplement the 5,000 historical documents with insights of feelings and memories, Dr. Yang
made oral histories of the four surviving children in 1992. The children and their ages in 1992
were: Peter, 85; Paul, 78; David, 75; and Mary, 73. Altogether twenty-five tapes were recorded
and transcribed into more than 1,000 pages.
(3) Booklet: My Travels in Hawaii. Soon Hyun. 1907
This booklet which describes Soon Hyun's work and travels in Hawaii from 1903 to 1907 was
first published in Korean in 1907. The booklet is available in an English translation by Dr. Eun
Sik Yang.
