AN APPEAL TO AMERICAN PEOPLE
Editor,
Trusting your generous consideration I wish to express the general
opinion of the Korean people in Hawaii in connection with the proest
of their kindreds in Korea against the five year trusteeship of Korea
as decided by the "Big Three" conference in Moscow.
I firmly believe there is not a single Korean in Hawaii who would
welcome this unamerican policy to be set up in Korea. It is not only
contridictory to the principles of the Atlantic Charter and the spirit
of the Cairo pledge, but it Is a great disgrace to the honored death
of precious ^merican ywtns for freedom of oppressed peoples in the
world.
It may be construed for a political expediency that Korea shall secure
full and complete independence after five years, but history shows
that no nation has ever been or will be prosperous under the paternalistic control of other nations. It is certain that the Allied Military
Governments either in North or South shall continue to meet all kinds
of disorders and revolts.
In fulfilling the Allied promise of liberation to the Korean people,
I sincerely and humbly suggest the peoples of both countries - America
and Russia to consider and act the following items.
1. That America and Russia shall dissolve the 38tb paralell demarkatior
and grant freedom of transportation and communication to the people
of Korea.
2. That America and Russia shall study their respective administrations
both in North Korea by Russians and in South Korea by Americans,
and cmpromise the defferences into one unified policy.
