Mr. Carleton W. Kenyon
Law Library of Congress
101 Independence Avenue S.E.

Dear Mr. Kenyon,
The Korean Heritage Library of the University of Southern California is
gathering research materials on Diamond Kimm, a one-time Korean resident of Los
Angeles, student at USC, and publisher of a bilingual newspaper during the
1940s-early 1950s. He was also the subject of a deportation action which took
to the U.S. Supreme Court on appeal, and lost.
We are seeking copies of the full transcripts both of the Supreme Court
argumentation (363 US 405, Diamond Kimm v. George K. Rosenberg, District
Director, INS—May 16-17, 1960) and of the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals
appeal (263 F.2d 773, Diamond Kimm v. Richard C. Hoy, District Director, INS.
No. 15763—February 19, 1959). We were advised, by the Law Librarian on
campus, to contact you for information towards this quest. If the transcripts
of these appeals are on microform, we would prefer microform copies (silver
haloid, if at all possible), rather than printouts which would not be likely to
last very long.
Please advise me on how we can go about obtaining such copies. Thank
you, and I look forward to your early reply.
Regards,
Kenneth Klein
