_ Chungking, China
We read yours of February 3 with much regret stop It seems that you
are grossly misinformed about our situation stop Kimho has no connection
whatsoever with Haan stop Underlying purpose of Dunnhaan memorandum
was temporary personal arrangement to have Haan support Kopogo to
test his sincerity and to silence his unnecessary noise making and
agitations stop Dunnkim mission to Chungking is unanimous desire of
Hawaii and Mainland UKC for closer cooperations between you and us
and to coordinate our war efforts and postwar plan stop We want you
to understand that the purpose of this mission is to help and not
hinder your work stop Sooner they come to Chungking the better you
will be informed of our real situation here and American government
attitude toward Kopogo stop Dunnkim are your most staunch supporters
stop We presume you received many misleading cables from Rhee and his
friends but we have been silent because we trust that you and Kopogo
would have some confidence In us We wish to infonn you that we have
achieved our unity which is stronger than ever before and we are
planning to give you greater support stop On the contrary Rhee is
working to split our unity with vicious means to fortify his personal
position stop In spite of all his mistakes mad selfishness we have
been vainly trying our best to help and Omnselijhia for the past toro
years therefore as long as this man holds office our national interest
will be greatly jeopardized stop We are sure you will agree with us
on this point it is time no individual interest should supersede that
of our nation^ can not tolerate one who puts his own interest above
Koreas freedom stop We the undersigned have been your loyal supporters
and we want to support you to the end therefore we beg you to believe
us and hope you will not disappoint us* \
