Dear Sirs
Although my name is unfamiliar to you, 1 am quite conversant with your
publication and with the history of the Korean community in California,
Some years ago 1 authored a bibliography for the University of Hawaii
under the title The Koreans in Hawaii%  An Annotated Bibliography and
included your newspaper as an important source of information.
At present 1 am completing work on a doctoral degree in Korean History
here at the University of Hawaii• My topic is Ahn Ghang-ho and 1 have
just about completed the necessary basic research, 1 spent several
months in Korea last fall and had a great deal of association with
Hungsadan members there.
While I was in Korea I read through the collection of Sinhan Mlnbo
copies which was donated to the National Central Library in Seoul by
Mr, C.E.Yang of San Francisco. They have copies from 190? to 1918
but none after that until 19^2, Naturally there were many helpful
references to Ahn Ghang-ho in the copies I read,
1 am planning on visiting Los Angeles this spring to further my research there on Ahn Ghfang-ho, 1 would like very much to be able to
read through your old files of Sinhan Mlnbo for further information
about Ahn Ghang-ho. Gould you tell me if this is possible and could
you please write to tell me for what years you have files for the
newspaper? I am particularly interested in the years 1915 and 1925*
1 would be very happy if you could answer this inquiry and would be
delighted if you could allow me to read through your files in the
short time 1 will be able to spend in Los Angeles,
