Almost everyone has heard the saying that a picture is worth 1,000 words. Well, today’s front page is based on that familiar quote. Besides giving readers a break from the usual ASSC stories, it gives other personalities the chance for fame.
Mary Ann Galante, Daily Trojan entertainment editor, (standing, upper right photo) is putting in her bid for a spot on the Elections Commission. Incidentally, the reaction of Karen Howze, Associated Women Students president, was not untvDical. Galante was one of those named to the commission, but ASSC President Kent Clemence vetoed the selection of the new commissioners and the matter will be discussed at an ASSC Council meeting today. (See story on page 2.)
Greg Passty, a graduate student in math, registered to vote yesterday with help from William Bridgman, a registrar of voters. Passty must have been inspired by the excitement of the Florida free-for-all on Tuesday.
Other action on campus yesterday included a noon concert presented by Funk Campaign, a 10-member jazz rock group.
President John Hubbard, back on the job after returning from a trip to India, was the guest at a tea yesterday given by Indian students studying at USC. Hubbard's comment after his month-long visit: “It’s nice to be back, but I certainly enjoyed being there.” DT photos by Tony Korody and Will Hertzberg.
