The Season is advancing and one must make haste.

Time, as the clock knows it, is synthetic; a creation measured by a machine which determines how little of it there is left. But the seasons slide by regularly no matter who forgets to wind the clock, and it is the seasons that measure life.
And now we have come to the fall season. New people, new ways, new values will all appear as this time of year passes. And yet soon it ^ ill be gone,
silently as a falling leaf. And time will have been wasted.
This issue of the Daily Trojan is called the Orientation Edition because of the time of year in which it appears. We aren’t really orienting anybody; we are merely announcing that the fall semester has begun. The paper will appear again Tuesday and run daily the rest of the semester. We don’t want to see any time wasted. The season is here.
