Dr. George H. Armacost, president of the University of Redlands and a member of the Council of Regents of the Memorial Court of Honor, presented Dr. von KleinSmid's name for entombment in the Memorial ( Court of Honor.
Dr. Hubert Eaton, founder and board chairman of Forest Lawn, placed a laurel crown on the casket “as a symbol of honor and immortal fame” and declared the Chancellor an “Immortal of the Memorial Court of Honor.”
The invocation was delivered by Dr. J. Richard Sneed, pastor of Whittier Methodist Church, and the benediction by the Rev. John E. Cantelon, USC chaplain. Dr. J. Herbert Smith, pastor of All Saints Episcopal Church, read the 121st Psalm.
Athletes To Train At Troy
Members of the linked States and Soviet Union track teams I will arrive at USC over the i weekend to finish training for i their international dual meet July 25-26 in the Coliseum.
The Russian cindermen are .due to arrive at 4:55 a.m. Saturday. Uncle Sam's fastest sprinters will also arrive over i the weekend while the rest of the U.S. team will come early next week.
Both teams will be housed in Birnkrant Hall on campus. A press conference for the competitors has been arranged Saturday in Birnkrant.
Wealth of Talent U.S. head coach Sam Bell, of Oregon State, has a wealth of fleet relay talent, but is taking .no chances on a disqualification 'such as occurred last year in Moscow. Thus the eajity assembling date for the sprinters.
Joining Bob Hayes, who ran a 9.1 century last year and repeated this spring in the relay, will be Henry Carr. Paul Drayton, John Moon, Bernie Rivers, Charles Green. Gerald Ashworth and Dick Stebbins. The | relay foursome will be named j from this group.
All are ready to fly with the possible exception of Green, who pulled a hamstring muscle in the Olympic semi-final trials in New York on July 3. Rivers is the most likely replacement in the 100-meters if Green is below par.
Carr and Drayton Carr and Drayton will represent the U.S. in the 200 meters.
Bell's most immediate problem is deciding which four will comprise the baton team. Once that decision has been made he will decide in what order to run his speedsters. And then it’s work and more work in the Coliseum and on USC's Cromwell Field until the baton exchange technique is mastered to perfection.
