Blue Key Meet To Feature Olymptc Pole Vault Champ
The Rev. Bub Richards, twice the Olympic po vault champion, xvill# speak at the bi-monthly Bit Key meeting tonight at the Chi Phi house at 5:30.
The meeting, one ol the two held each month 1 Blue Key, men's honorary society, will be held wi the purpose of discussing the forthcoming picnic Griffith Park in which the faculty will be challergt by the students for a case of '“coke.” The picnic w; be held in the latter part of May.
The Rev. Richards, one of history’s greatest di cathalon competitors, won the Coliseum Relays po vault championship seven consecutive year to 1955. His greatest winning height in the Coliseum was 15 ft. 9 16 in.
A graduate of the University of Illinois, the Rev. Richards has cleared the mS.gie 1511. barrier more frequently than any other person in history.
At Helsinki. Finland, in the 1952' Olympics. Richards won the pole vault going over 14ft. 1114in. Four years later in the 1956 Olympics at Melbourne, Australia, he again won the pole vault by clearing 14ft. ll'2in.
