Coy, lecture, art and lecture room, University library, 3:15 p.m. Von KleinSmid Re-appointed As County Board Member Chancellor Rufus B. von KleinSmid has been reappointed by the Los Angeles county board of supervisors as a member of the board of governors, department of history, science, and art for another four-year period, according to an announcement released Friday. Dr. Von KleinSmid. who was elevated to the position of chancellor last spring after serving as president of the university for 25 years, ls president of the Los Angeles public library commission and a member of numerous other state and local commissions. Robinson, formerly head of the department of philosophy at Indiana university and recently released from active duty with the navy, as director of th® School of Philosophy was announced yesterday by Chancellor Rufus B. von KleinSmid. The new director succeeds Dr. Ralph T. Flewelling who recently retired but who will continue as editor of “The Personalist,” quarterly philosophical journal published by the school. This is a fairly new study which started with the electro - encephalographic equipment, a machine used to record brain impulses. Professor Travis attended the University of Iowa, and in 1932 started working with the study of the brain. Six years later he came to SC and ls now professor of psychology and speech and head of the department of speech. He has recently completed a book for GI’s, “You're out of the Service Now,” which deals with the everyday problems of the returned veteran. Other published works by Professor Travis are director of the School of Philosophy since its founding in 1929. A graduate of Boston university with Ph. D. and LL. D. degrees and holding an honorary degree of Litt. D. from SC. he has also studied at the Sorbonne, Paris. Prior to coming to SC he held numerous pastorates in Massachusetts.
