By CATHERINE LYONS Daily Trojan More than 150 USC students attended a worship service Sunday night at nearby Roger Williams Baptist Church for a USC student who remains in critical condition after a skateboarding accident last Thursday. Friends and family members showed their support for Chase Edler, a junior majoring in business administration, at the service hosted by Campus Crusade for Christ, a Christian organization with which he was involved. Since the service, Edler’s condition has improved significantly, said Ryan Juenger, a senior majoring in business administration. “The pressure in his brain dropped a lot, and it’s almost down to normal," Juenger said. "He’s still in a coma, but the doctors are beginning the process of taking him out of the coma. Then they will check his progress, run some tests and repeat the process.” Many of Edler’s friends attribute his improvements and survival to prayer. “He’s already defied death twice and gone past what medicine can do,” said Doug Mack, a senior majoring in business administration and one of Edler’s roommates. “There’s already been two miracles; it’s in God’s hands.” Mack was with Edler when the accident occurred, and he updated the congregation with the most recent information on Edler’s condition. He encouraged the students to keep Edler in their thoughts and prayers and keep hoping for his full recovery. Eric Haug, a junior majoring in business administration and one of Edler’s closest friends from childhood and a second roommate, said there are friends and missionaries praying for him in Nicaragua, Haiti, Mexico and Ethiopia, where one village is fasting. The church service ended with students gathered in groups praying and singing. “It’s amazing how many people are praying for this guy,” said Beau Wirick, the worship leader for the organization and a junior majoring in business administration.
