SEPTEMBER 18,1995 Daily Trojan 3 Forum: Journalist to join staff (Continued from page 1) have Cannon," said Fromson. "I have known him for many years. It would be ideal to have him as a professional-in-resi-dence, especially because he's a Californian." The $75,000 grant given to USC will be used to support Cannon and the program, said Fromson. Recently, other grants have been awarded to the School of Journalism, particularly the Center for International Journalism. In May, the center received $200,000 from the John and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to fund fellowships for students. Additionally, last week they received $125,000 from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. "We are pleased by all the developments," said Fromson. "They reflect a vitality for the School of Journalism and its new configuration as part of Annenberg because it demonstrates the high regard in which USC is held by the journalistic community." The USC Department of Public Safety reported the following incidents: • On Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 4:09, a motor vehicle theft was reported at the University Parking Center. A suspect removed the rear license plate. • At 4:16, a grand theft was reported at Parking Lot E. A suspect removed an immobilization boot from his vehicle and left the location with the boot. • At 5:09, a restraining order violation was reported near Exposition and University. A staff member reported that a non-USC male violated a restraining order by approaching her, blocking her way as she attempted to drive away in her vehicle. • At 7:26, a motor vehicle theft was reported at Parking Lot D. A suspect entered an unsecured vehicle and removed a USC parking permit. • At 8:29, a petty theft was reported at Taper Hall of the Humanities. A suspect removed a bicycle secured to a drain pipe. • At 10:10, vandalism was reported on the 850 block of Aaams.
