Rigid, conventional sexual thinking leads to the stigmatisation of sex workers. Shrage said. She compared prostitutes to workers in service industries, such as waitresses and nurses.
“Their customers have needs and it's perfectly legitimate to satisfy those needs." she said, adding that prostitutes can provide a sexual life to those who may not otherwise experience sex. such as the disabled.

task force on youth suicide report ed that. *a majority of suicide attempts by homosexuals occur during their youth, and gay youth are two to three times more likely to attempt suicide than other young people. They may comprise up to 30 percent of (the estimated 5,000) completed youth suicides annually.4
The study exploded on the gay rights scene and spearheaded a surge of interest in the debilitating effects of homophobia on young people. Many of the programs and support groups currently available to gay youth at the high school and college levels began to take shape after the release of the youth sui-
sor of the Rainbow Floor in Webb Tower. The Rainbow Floor, a special-interest floor for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender USC students, is now in its second year of operation.
Walker said the Rainbow Floor is significant because it brings students together in a creative and open-minded environment “Ull a learning and growing experience for people on the floor,” Walker said. “It encourages them to get involved in the GLBT community.”
During the last two decades, gay rights issues have ilowly and often painfully worked their way to the forefront of public consciousness.
