Participants are going to set their own goals based on their experience levels.
“My first goal is to finish,” said Nitin Sharma, a junior majoring in economics and computer science.
Sharma said the most he has ever completed was an 8-mile race in Singapore. He said he is joining the team because it’ll be “so satisfying" and that the satisfaction will justify the time commitment

On Wednesday, the Department of Public Safety unveiled an annual report that informs students about how to obtain information regarding registered sex offenders living in the area.
OcL ] was the deadline for universities around the country to comply with the federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act, said Michael Kennedy, executive officer lieutenant of the Department of Public Safety.
The law publicizes sex offender information and amends the Higher Education Act of 1965, which mandated that institutions be required to report their campus security policies and crimes statistics data.
The new federal law requires that the report must also inform the campus about where to obtain registered sex offender information. The law was passed in October of 2000.
“It gives people access to what’s going on in the area," Kennedy said.
The federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act also requires that registered sex offenders provide a notice to the state if they are students or employees of an institution of higher learning.
The DPS report was revealed on the same day that Gov. Gray Davis signed a bill that extended Megan’s Law, the state law passed in 19% allowing citizens access to information regarding the location of sex offenders in California. A federal law also exists.
On Monday, the Assembly approved a three-year extension of the state law, which was set to expire on Jan. 1,2004.
“It gives another three years of life to the program," said Paul Mitchell, the chief of staff for Assemblywoman Nicole Parra, who wrote the bill.
