Photograph of Charlotta Bass at the second anniversary party for the Independent Progressive Party (IPP) of California. Bass, right, looks on as Reuben Borough, left, blows out one of the birthday candles on a cake. Edward Mosk, a Los Angeles attorney and active party member, holds the birthday cake. IPP was formed on June 15, 1948, when the Progressive Citizens of America, Southern California chapter, merged with the Independent Progressive Party of California. The newly merged party supported Henry Wallace's presidential campaign in 1948. Bass ran for Vice President on the Progressive Party ticket in 1952, along with Borough, the party's candidate for U.S. Senate from California.
