Description	Photograph of Charlotta Bass, second from the right, and other guests listening to an unidentified speaker during a birthday party for the Independent Progressive Party (IPP) of California. Reuben Borough is seated at the far left; Robert W. Kenny, attorney general of California from 1943-47, is seated between Bass and the speaker; the man smoking a cigarette on the far right is attorney Dan Marshall. IPP was formed on June 15, 1948, when the Progressive Citizens of America, Southern California chapter, merged with the Independent Progressive Party of California. The newly merged party supported Henry Wallace's presidential campaign in 1948.
