Postcard with photograph of two African-American men wearing three-piece suits and holding derby hats. The bottom of the postcard contains the handwritten words "W.T. Vernon, U.S. Treas." The message suggests that one of the men could be W.T. Vernon, the president of Western University in Quindero, Kansas, whom Pres. Theodore Roosevelt appointed Registrar of the U.S. Treasury. Vernon served in the Treasury position from 1906 until 1911. In later years he was bishop of an African Methodist Episcopal congregation.
